Description
FOR SALE : Dell Wyse 5070 dual-port compact Gigabit router/firewall running OPNsense. Originally, the device was marketed as a thin client. The device has a rare factory option installed, a second network interface card (NIC). Because of this option, we were able to convert the device into a Gigabit router and firewall by installing OPNsense, an open-source operating system for networking equipment. To test the device, we made a few changes to the initial OPNsense configuration. A detailed configuration note will be provided to the buyer. Alternatively, the buyer could simply reset the software to its initial state. Briefly, the built-in Ethernet port has been configured as LAN, the SFP port on the add-on card has been set up as WAN. If you want to reverse this assignment (say, your ISP's terminal device has to connect over Ethernet, but your primary switch has an SFP port), let us know, we'll make it happen before we ship the device to you. Please note that the add-on card has an SFP port, which requires an SFP cartridge ( not included in this listing ) to work. The device runs on an Intel Pentium J5005 processor (four cores, 1.50 GHz base speed, 2.80 GHz burst speed) with 4 GB of RAM and a 128 GB SSD. Networking (two Gigabit ports) is handled by Realtek 8xxx NICs. To improve the stability and performance of the Realtek NICs, we installed the os-realtek-re plugin developed by the OPNsense team. On the funny side, the device has a pretty loud beeper, so it can give you a mild startle when it plays OPNsense startup or shutdown tunes. The device is implemented in a desktop form factor. The case is plastic panels over metal frame. The device is passively cooled and thus completely silent. The device is in excellent physical condition (please review the photos). A power supply unit is included .
